Hinewai 30th Anniversary
05/11/2017 at 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
The programme that day will run from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm. Throughout that time people will be able to view the Art Exhibition, peruse the displays and memorabilia, mix and mingle and eat (bring your own food) and drink (tea and coffee will be provided).
People wanting to park at Otepiki/Brocheries Flat and walk down to Otanerito will need to arrive before 11.00 am in order to allow time to walk down the tracks through Hinewai (and allow a couple of hours to walk back up after the event). Note: There will not be any room for parking at Otanerito.
Shuttle vans will start running from the airstrip down to Otanerito at 10.00 am so people coming to that destination should aim to arrive between 10.00 am and 12.00 midday.
At 11.00 am there will be an opportunity to take a guided walk before lunch (these will be repeated again in the afternoon after the formal part if the ceremony).
At 12.30 pm there will be a short formal ceremony. The Mayor of Christchurch, Lianne Dalziel, will speak – as will Hugh Wilson. There will be a presentation to Maurice White by David Round (Chair of the Maurice White Trust Board) followed by the cutting of the Anniversary Cake by Maurice White.
After that people will have freedom as to what they want to do and some of the pre-lunch activities will be “re-run”.
