Citizen Science Symposium and Workshops, Wellington

On Monday April 9, Te Papa Tongarewa, the Museum of NZ will host the country’s first symposium dedicated fully to investigating citizen science. An EXPO in the form of displays by symposium participants will take place in the main Te Papa foyer (L1). A series workshops will take place April 7-8.

The #CitSciNZ2018 Symposium on April 9 is designed to showcase a cross-section of NZ-based citizen science initiatives as well as look internationally to see how we may grow citizen science strategically in NZ. The Symposium will be dynamic and is targetted at community groups, educators, researchers and agencies. The programme, speaker biographies and registration are on the event website. Registration for community groups/volunteers/NGOs is only $30, and $120 for professional/business.

 

Workshop spaces are filling fast so register quickly to secure your place! April 7 – Lizard monitoring (a community technical presenation followed by field workshops at Zealandia or Matiu/Somes; Using Trap.NZ and Bird monitoring. April 8 – Freshwater monitoring; revegetation monitoring; BioBlitz using NaturewatchNZ and working with Marine Meter Squared data. Details for each workshop are on the event website.
