Consultation on the New Zealand Biodiversity Strategy
29/08/2019 at 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
You are invited to a regional workshop on Thursday 29 August 2019, at Environment Canterbury, 200 Tuam Street, Christchurch
The Department of Conservation is undertaking consultation for a new national strategy for biodiversity that will be in place from 2020. The new Biodiversity Strategy will set a vision and guide biodiversity management work for the next 50 years.
We need your input to make sure that the new Biodiversity Strategy reflects what New Zealanders want for nature.
The Minister of Conservation has launched a discussion document: Te Koiroa o te Koiora – Our shared vision for living with nature. This document reflects what we have heard about the importance of nature, and tests some proposals for the new Biodiversity Strategy such as a vision, framework and outcomes. You can find out more, and read a copy of the document here: https://www.doc.govt.nz/
This workshop is one of eight regional workshops the Department of Conservation is holding around the country seeking feedback on the proposals set out in Te Koiroa o te Koiora and input into a new Biodiversity Strategy for Aotearoa New Zealand.
In the workshop we will explore a future vision for nature and how we can get there. We will also hear from leading local biodiversity practitioners and forward thinkers about local and regional approaches to help us see what the future could look like.
Come along and contribute your thoughts and ideas for the future of biodiversity in New Zealand.
