Cranford Basin Planting
21 April at 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
We are working in conjunction with Christchurch City Council to plant a forest of 40,000 kahikatea trees in a wetland area that will provide stormwater retention services as well as enhancing urban biodiversity. Matariki Tu Rakau is part of the One Billion Trees programme, helping people to plant living memorials that honour members of their communities. Matariki Tu Rakau was launched on 25 April 2018 to mark the 100-year anniversary of the end of the First World War.
Meeting point: 103 Philpotts Rd, Mairehau. Park on the street and walk in, or drive in and park off the track.
Wednesday 21 April: Join us for a planting to mark Earth Month, 10am-1pm. We’ll be having a BBQ at midday, so registrations are appreciated.
Gumboots or sturdy boots are essential as this can be a very wet site. Please bring your own gloves if you have them.
We’ll be supplying a light lunch for the planting marking World Earth Day on Wednesday April 21st, so registrations are appreciated. This planting is brought to you with the support of One Tree Planted.
We provide: tools, and a friendly team leader. Please bring a water bottle and come dressed appropriately for the weather.
We’d love to see you there, so please register here. Contact Donna (email@example.com) 021 457 568 for more information.
