Dry Bush Planting Day
15 June at 12:45 pm - 3:15 pm
After a long dry summer and autumn, thankfully the rain has arrived in time for the upcoming winter planting season. Site preparation is underway for volunteers to plant 4000 native plants at various sites on the Port Hills.
There is no need to pre-book, however due to limited parking at the sites, we will be car-pooling from the rear visitor centre car park at Victoria Park (see map below). The exception is 8 th June (Bowenvale Reserve, Huntsbury) when we will meet at 20 Swanton Drive, Huntsbury. Park on the street close to there, but please be mindful of residents’ driveway access.
For car-pooling meeting point, drive to the Sign of the Takahe, turn left into Hackthorne Road and sharp right into Victoria Park Road. Drive 1km into the park and follow the road around the back of the hill to the car park at the rear of the Visitor Centre. If car park is full, park at the main car park and walk to the meeting place.
Meet in the rear car park at 12.45pm.
Bring clothes for all weather: sun, rain, snow – sun hats and woolly hats, sturdy boots. Spades and gloves will be provided by the rangers. BYO if you prefer.
