Public Talk: Stocker Scholarship – Postgraduate Students Present their Research Findings from 2019

Freshwater Ecology MSc student (UC) Alexandra Barclay will speak about her research into the ecology of alpine tarns and the management of their little known ecosystems, macroinvertebrate communities and food-web structures. She will also discuss the importance of tussock surrounding tarns and risks from climate change.

Master’s in Science student Christopher Car (BEng(Hons) & BSc) will present his research into the use of artificial intelligence to recognise different species automatically in the NZ bush through thermal imaging. The aim is to facilitate imaging 24/7, either trigger traps or poison, and/or upload data to a central server.
