Letter Writing Event – Christchurch

27/05/2021 at 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Join us for our next event on Thursday the 27th of May where we will be writing letters to the Board of Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) calling on them to follow our demand to divest from the fossil fuel industry.
Last year our 350 Aotearoa community launched a campaign calling for ACC to use our public funds for public good and divest from the fossil fuel industry that is driving the climate crisis. We’ve played an important role in Christchurch, by organising an action and keeping the pressure on ACC online. Thank you for your role in our shared campaign so far!
The government has responded to our campaign, with the Minister of Finance Hon Grant Robertson supporting our call for ACC to divest in the annual letter of expectation to ACC’s Board members.
While this is a reason for celebration, we still have an important role to play in ensuring that ACC commits to divest from all coal, oil, and gas companies in a robust, transparent, and timely manner. That’s why we’re coming together next week to write letters to the Chair of ACC Dame Paula Restock, and we’d love you to join us.
When: Thursday the 27th of May between 5 pm and 6.30 pm (Join us any time between these hours)
Where: Joes Garage, 617-643 Colombo Street, Christchurch Central
Why: To keep the heat on ACC and tell them to divest from all coal, oil, and gas companies by the end of 2021.
It’s up to us to keep ACC’s investment in fossil fuels in the spotlight and push for ACC to implement a robust divestment policy in a transparent and timely manner. We look forward to seeing you next week!
