Planting maintenance at Koukourarata

4 April at 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Kia ora mai tātau,
I trust everyone’s years are off to a great start and that all is well with you and yours.
WHATS THE GO?
As mentioned in my post on last Sunday, we are needing a hand to remove the planting guards from the now established 3000 trees that have completed the Whakaora te Kahukunu riparian pathway, that my father aptly describes as the “whenua or placenta” that connects our mauka Kakanui, to our moana Te Ara Whanui o Makawhiu. If you, your whānau, friends and or workplaces want to get involved with an opportunity to help our environment, connect with our communities and your bad self 🤘🏽 🤘🏽 come kick with me and let’s help our trees out.
WHAT TO BRING?
– Suitable walking footwear
– Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty with cold and wet weather options
– Gardening knife
– Plate of Kai to contribute to potluck type shared lunch together
– and swimwear for some post lunch bombs 😉
WHEN / WHERE TO GO?
This event will take place on Sunday the 4th of April at 9am – 12pm. When entering that bay, please slow down to around 30km or less because we have plenty of tamariki knocking about. Please park your cars along the foreshore in front of the Marae on Pā road and along to the public toilets first, and following that, there will be an option of an overflow park on our papakaik, but please try and use the public spaces first.
Once more e te whānau, be mindful of our local whānau who live in the bay and need to share the roads. Otherwise, I’d love to see you all there and just know that everyone is welcome.
Ka nunui te mihi,
