Plastic’s dirty secret – The human cost of plastic pollution

06/12/2018 at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Tonnes of New Zealand’s rubbish is shipped to Malaysia for recycling. But there’s a problem. Much of what arrives in Malaysia from around the world as “recycling” doesn’t get recycled. It’s illegally burned – poisoning the air. Or dumped, in villages and towns, polluting ruining people’s lives.

Lay Peng Pua knows this all too well. She lives in one of the communities impacted by this illegally dumped waste. Learn from her about what it’s like to live in the shadow of the global waste trade. Then learn from Greenpeace NZ ocean campaigner, Emily Hunter what we can all do to stop this.
