Port Hills Plant Maintenance – Dry Bush
10 October at 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
What a year 2020 has turned out to be. Autumn maintenance was completed just before going into lockdown and winter planting started as soon as we came out. Spring has arrived on the hills with the bleating of hundreds of new lambs. The growth around the young plantings has not stopped and we need volunteers to help cut back grass and weeds around them.
Volunteer maintenance days – 1pm to 3pm
- Saturday 3 October – Eastside (replacing Marleys Hill)
- Saturday 10 October – Dry Bush
- Saturday 17 October – Kennedys Bush (replacing Marleys Hill)
- Saturday 31 October – Latters
Dry Bush – park at the top of Huntsbury Avenue and walk up Huntsbury 4WD track to the site, or park on Summit Road and walk down Huntsbury Track to Dry Bush. There is no parking on Huntsbury Track.
Come prepared for all weather with sturdy boots for hill work. Hedge clippers will be provided by the rangers, but please feel free to bring your own. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the rangers cannot provide gloves so please bring your own.
