Rise for Climate (Day 1)

On the evening of September 7th, at the Cardboard Cathedral, 350 Christchurch and Fossil Free Aoraki are hosting a forum of inspirational speakers from different sectors describing what they are doing to tackle climate change.
Speakers include:
Matthew Hughes (Canty Uni) – the risks of global warming
Steve Muir – churches taking climate action
Piers Locke (Canty Uni) – incorporating climate awareness into research & teaching
Meg Christie – the Zero Heroes in Crown Public Health
Moniqua Reid (Unite union) – handbook for a Just Transition
Anzac Gallate – how Cashmere High School became a Power Saver, & the national Climate Challenge
Eco Villa – a new way of offering accommodation
Tony Moore – City Council’s commitment to local groups taking climate action
The aim of the evening is to bring together and support groups making a difference for the climate. You’ll hear stories of inspiration from schools, churches, workplaces, unions, businesses and academia and have an opportunity to network and connect over a cuppa afterwards.
