The Shift to Wellbeing in Economic Policy

26/07/2018 at 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Hear Dr Caroline Saunders, Director of the Agribusiness and Economics Research Unit at Lincoln University*, present on the work she has been doing with Professor Paul Dalziel on wellbeing economics. She will talk about how wellbeing has developed as a major goal which is central to economic policy-making, rather than an as add-on from financial growth. The issues involved with implementing this and how we can turn our economy from being low cost to high value – socially, environmentally and culturally – will also be discussed.

* The mission of the AERU is: ‘To exercise leadership in research for sustainable well-being’, and it works on a range of topics to achieve this, including policy advice on how to implement and measure wellbeing and how to change the discussion from $$$ to the broader outcomes such as social, environmental and cultural wellbeing.
