Weekday weeding – Hagley Park
23 January at 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
Conservation Volunteers New Zealand and Council urban rangers offer a lunchtime volunteer opportunity for busy central city professionals.
This month: Pedestrian bridge across the Avon opposite Salisbury Street, North Hagley Park
Take a break from your desk and help tidy up the green heart of our city. Bring your lunch to this Conservation Volunteers New Zealand (CVNZ) and Christchurch City Council urban parks joint event – light weeding along Ōtakaro/Avon River in Hagley Park.
Your efforts will help support the ecological values of this important habitat for eel/tuna and trout. Spend 30 minutes doing something good for the environment, then sit and chat over your packed lunch with like-minded new friends.
This is the perfect volunteering opportunity for the busy professional, who wants to #dogood but struggles to find the time in their busy lifestyle. Tasks may include clipping grass from around planted native Carex, pulling convolvulus from established plants and hand weeding – nothing too dirty!
Wear sturdy shoes or gumboots. High-vis vests, gloves and tools will be provided.
