Network Waitangi Otautahi (NWO) is a third sector organisation which focuses on tangata tiriti (people of the Treaty, i.e. non-Maori) responsibility for the Treaty of Waitangi/te Tiriti o Waitangi. It links with other regional groups of mainly tangata tiriti educators and provides educational workshops, resource materials and other opportunities for people to understand te Tiriti and our place within it. A range of useful resources on the Treaty and related subjects is available from NWO including the revised 2016 edition of The Treaty of Waitangi Questions and Answers booklet. NZ Association for Environmental Education, Christchurch Branch

NZAEE promotes environmental education initiatives at both a national and regional level.  Here in Christchurch we organise regular membership meetings and the occasional Green Drinks evening. We also oversee regional events for the annual NZAEE flagship celebration of our marine environments, ‘Seaweek’ that is held in March, in association with our regional sponsor Environment Canterbury. Nationally NZAEE offers workshops & forums, a biennial conference, is an active participant group in a number of initiatives i.e. UN Decade for Sustainable Development & Environmental Education for Sustainability Action Plan and serves in an advisory capacity on an array of EEFS issues.
